We will seek to integrate our business ethics and Bion values into the operations and to meet the expectations of our stakeholders. We recognise that our social, economic and environmental responsibilities are integral to the future success of our business.
The Managing Directors are responsible for the implementation of this policy and will make the necessary resources available to realise our corporate responsibilities. The responsibility of our performance on this policy rests with all our employees.
Bion takes a strategic approach to its workforce, identifying the competencies it will need for future sustainability and growth. We plan for this via recruitment, training and career development. Upon joining, a new employee can expect for us to build upon their key competencies including technical abilities, leadership and soft skills through performance reviews and on-the-job development. We will encourage the sharing of knowledge and expertise amongst our employees. We will ensure that all our employees are issued with contracts setting out terms and conditions of employment. We will maintain a clear and fair employee remuneration scheme. We will benchmark pay against industry-specific data that is provided to us from a source approved by the business.
Employees will be encouraged to help local community organisations and activities in our region. Employees are made aware that any fund raising events that are undertaken might qualify for matched funding from the company. We aim to set aside 10% of trading profit each financial year for charitable contributions.
We will seek to support universal human rights within the communities in which we operate and within the organisations we trade with. We will not be involved in the supply or shipment of goods or services where there are clearly identifiable risks of use of these goods or services for acts of internal repression or external aggression that would violate human rights. We will encourage our suppliers and contractors to adopt responsible business policies and practices. We will ensure that we provide an environment within the workplace that is free from bullying and harassment and recognises the uniqueness of all our employees. We will maintain, make employees aware of and train our employees in our Equal Opportunities Policy.
Suppliers provide a significant proportion of the value added to our processes. With this in mind, Bion will seek to develop strategic partnerships with organisations whose core values are similar to us. We will look at long-term relationships with suppliers who can understand our business needs and quality and delivery expectations and thus support us as we support our customers. We have developed supply chain management activities through fostering partnerships, risk mitigation and supplier performance development.
We undertake to ensure the health and safety of all our employees including site visitors. We look to promote a work environment that actively seeks to reduce accidents and address risks.
The majority of the material we perforate is metal which is completely recyclable. Apart from water, aluminium is the most recycled material on the planet and forms a significant part of our offering. We undertake to operate in an ecologically aware manner. We have in place practices to minimise waste via recycling and to dispose of hazardous waste only using companies with the required permit as issued by the Environmental Agency. Waste carrier notes are maintained within the statue of law. We will continue to work towards energy saving as well as minimising packaging to reduce our environmental footprint.
